Mercury (Hg) (fluid, metallic, elemental) i.v., i.m.

Injected fluid or elemental mercury (for ritual purpose, in Munchausen syndrome, in illicit drug abusers or secondary to failure of vintage hemodynamic pressure sensors) may lodge in the pulmonary circulation causing distinctive imaging features. To be ditinguished from mercury salts and/or organomercurials and their distinctive toxicity (PMID 9614258). These are extremely hazardous poisons and supertoxicants (PMID 9614258, 14585942).
